Congratulations Spencer!

Written by Tina FairwellSpencer had his Eagle Court of Honor on April 30th. Spencer’s project was a large exterior house re-modeling assignment. Spencer partnered with a national charity called “Rebuild Together” and essentially took on the role of general contractor. The Charity was established to improve inner city neighborhoods by assisting needy individuals or families make cosmetic improvements to the exterior of their homes/properties. Entire neighborhoods benefit by improving run-down, unsightly properties. Spencer was fortunate to be able to get a corporate sponsor to underwrite the cost of materials & supplies.

The home Spencer was assigned to work on was owned by an elderly woman who had lived in the house for about 30 years. The house was in a state of general disrepair. Spencer organized a group of 30 plus volunteers to repair damaged portions of the exterior walls, clean up the landscaping, repair the fence, install a new rock path and finally paint the entire house. The majority of the volunteers worked over two Saturdays, but Spencer (and his family) worked many additional days as well.

The following pictures depict the improvements that Spencer orchestrated:
Some of the work was more than cosmetic. In this instance, the old air conditioner had dripped water into the wall for so long that it rotted out all the supporting studs. We had to strip off all the exterior siding and reframe the wall around the air-conditioner / window.
